Cynthia waits...and waits...and waits.

June 16, 2004 - Near the HayPatch, UT - The long two-year wait is over! Stevie returned from his mission home safe and sound on June 16th at (precisely?!) 8:20 p.m.

After checking and rechecking the arrival time, his mum, Cynthia, was so very, very excited and overwhelmed to have him back again that she waited as close to the gate as she legally could. When she saw him come down the escalator at SLC she moved in even closer (see photo evidence below).

It was a whirlwind of hugging and tears that evening at the airport. Stevie wasn't the only recipient of the free-flowing joy as there were seven other missionaries arriving on the same flight.

Welcome home!

Waiting outside at the airport...
Nearly an international incident at Cynthia storms the gate when she sees Stevie...A GREAT BIG hug!Two of Stevie's "Aunts" come to see him home. They're actually neighbors who have kids on missions too.
Steve and Stevie wait...and wait for luggage.Stevie and Steve together again.Natalie and Melissa. Poor Tristan wanted to run free at the airport.
Cynthia really didn't want to let go!

The family reunited...

In unrelated news:

Andrea starting the stripping.

June 16, 2004 - HayPatch, UT - What was thought to be lost in the archives of HayPatch.com is now unearthed!

The Great Office Update of 2003!

What started out innocently enough -- just remove the wallpaper and paint it all white, turned into what some might describe a slow burning trip to Hades.

Andrea was asked to strip the wallpaper and help paint. It sounded like the wallpaper may take a day or so to strip. Well, 4+ layers (That's on the wall alone, with 2+ layers on the ceiling. By the way, who thought that wallpapering a ceiling was a good idea?!) combined with 100+ temperatures and a dripping hot steamer and you've got a prescription for a loooong week's worth of work.

Suffice it to say that they survived the 100 temperatures and 150% steaming humidity, but as you'll see below, mental breakdowns were common by the time the paint started rolling.
